Community Service Requirements
     The motto of the National Honor Society "Noblesse Oblige" expresses the importance of serving one another and the community. In order to stay as an active NHS member, students are required to fulfill a certain number of service hours during the school year. Please read carefully.
 
Attention NHS SENIORS:
     If required service hours (30) and meeting attendance (at least 5) are NOT met by the March meeting, you will NOT graduate with National Honor Society. There will be NO exceptions made. It is YOUR responsibiliy, NOT OURS, to check with your recording secretary and make sure that you have fulfilled all requirements by March!

Year-Long Service Opportunities

NHS members must complete their community service hours requirement in increments according to the following guidelines:
 
Sophomores and Juniors
  • At least 6 service hours by November 5, 2007 (Two of the six must be served through NHS projects)
  • A total of at least 12 service hours by January 7, 2008

  • A total of at least 16 by March 3, 2008 (A total of at least five hours must be served through NHS projects)

Seniors
  • At least 8 service hours by November 5, 2007 (Two of the eight must be served through NHS projects)

  • A total of at least 20 service hours by March 3, 2008 (A total of at least five hours must be served through NHS projects)

Attention All Members:

  • No more than eight (8) hours will be accepted per activity. 
  • No service hours can be signed by immediate or outside family, or fellow NHS members.
  • The number of service hours completed must include at least five (5) hours with NHS-sponsored activities.

  • All members are required to participate in at least two NHS-sponsored activities throughout the school year.

To Receive Credit For Your Hours:

All service hours must be recorded on the NHS hour form in order to receive credit. NHS hours forms must be turned in no later then ten (10) days of the activity to the box outside of Student Activities.

We will NOT be providing copies of the NHS Hour Form. You must make copies of the form for yourself. A online copy of the NHS hour form is available on our web site.
