NHS members are selected to join the organization. To be invited
to join the National Honor Society, student must first meet the NHS standards of scholarship. This includes having a
minimum weighted grade point average of 3.500 during the 3rd grading period (of the preceding school year). Membership
is limited to sophomores, juniors, and seniors. The NHS Constitution explicitly prohibits freshman membership.
At the end of the year, each candidate will received an application
that he or she must turn in completed by a specified deadline. The application is composed of the following two items:
a registration form and an essay. Both items may be turned in jointly to Ms. Payne, Ms. Suarez or mailed to
your corresponding secretary. The deadline for all applications is usually the Friday before school starts.
